IDEA's Strategy

  1. Community Mobilization & Organization

  2. IDEA aligns the development program with community needs, identifying key potentials and assets of the community by diverting appropriate resources in responding to needs and harnessing the potential of the community to ensure sustainable impact. IDEA has an extensive social mobilization strategy that focuses on various approaches for involving the communities and empowering them to be self-reliant. IDEA strives to build trust in the community through a social mobilization process (sensitization, motivation,) which further cements the relationship with the community through effective coordination and linkages. Currently. IDEA has 1567 community institutions in KP which are identified, functionalized and capacitated by IDEA.

  3. Awarness Raising & sensitazation

  4. IDEA works for women and children by sensitizing the communities on their needs, protection and safeguarding. Behaviour change strategy towarded major issues like girls education, women political and economic empowerment has been designed and each project is developd on this strategy. Pandemics, epidemics, disasters and social issues and social enterprise development is made possible through sensitization and awareness raising.

  5. Advocacy for Rights

  6. IDEA has been advocating since its inception as a non-profit organization for the rights of marginalized communities in KP and Tribal Districts, previously known as Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). IDEA is an active member of leading networks and has alliances with activist groups like Taqra Qabaili Khwenday, TQK (Brave Tribal Women), End violence against women (EVAW/G Alliance KP and Merged Districts), Gender Task Force (GTF KP and Merged Districts) lead by UN Women, GHTF (Gender Humanitarian Task Force) lead by UN women at National Level. GBV Cluster UNFPA and UN Women, Education Cluster, led by UNICEF and National Humanitarian Network (NHN). Besides this IDEA is also leading Disaster Risk Reduction Forum in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

  7. Gender Mainstreaming

  8. Not just a cross-cutting theme in all the projects, IDEA has established a full-fledged gender section with a specialist heading it. All the projects are viewed through gender lenses and designed accordingly. IDEA is an active member of GTF, GHTF, EVAW /G Alliance, as well as various other alliances and plays a significant role in the initiatives for gender mainstreaming. IDEA has benefited both men and women through its projects yet women beneficiaries are 70% more than their men counterparts. IDEA understands that gender includes both men, women, and transgender, but due to the cultural constraints and conservative societal mindset women are marginalized and more vulnerable, therefore are given preference. Gender-sensitive HR policy has been developed, and all the employees in the offices as well as in the field abide by laws and Acts of the government regarding women. The Anti-Harassment Act passed in 2010 by the Parliament mandates all organizations to ensure basic compliance in the work environment. In this regard, IDEA formally implemented 10 the law within the organization. Compliance with the law includes the adoption of the code of conduct, its orientation to all staff, and the formation of an inquiry committee in IDEA Head Office and Regional Offices. For this purpose, an orientation is organized of all staff, including support staff, displayed the code of conduct in all offices and formed inquiry committee in all regional offices and head office headed by Gender Focal Person.
